Malaysia is a mixed cultures and multi racial society lives in a harmony environment that it is hard to find in anywhere else in the world. Malaysia has a total population of 32 millions and it is keep on increasing. Malaysia consists of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Dusun, Bajau, Dayak, Iban, and local tribesmen. About 80% of the population occupying in West Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia).

People of MalaysiaThe culture of Malaysia emphasizes on the values of harmony, tolerance, moderation, courtesy and others to maintain the harmonious among the multi racial people in the country.

Malay is the largest ethnic group in the country for more than half the population of Malaysia. They are Muslim and they are called the "Bumiputra" - the sons of the soil.

Chinese is the second largest ethnic group in the country. They comprises about 25% of the population of Malaysia. The Chinese traded with the proto-Malaysia people for centuries, then they settled down here in large group during the 19th century.

Indian is the third largest ethnic group in the country. They comprises about 7% of the population of Malaysia. Most of them are Hindu Tamils from Southern India. They settled down here in the 19th century when they came to work as rubber tappers under the British Colony administration then.

The others made up the rest of the population of the country. Orang Asli (tribesman) occupy in small scattered groups.  Iban, Dayak, Bidayuh, Melanau (largest in ethnic group in Sarawak), Bidayuh of Sarawak, Kadazan, Dusun, Bajau, Murut, Kagayan, Rungus of Sabah and others occupy in East Malaysia.

The people here are generally friendly and courtesy with warm hospitality.
